La Delicatess (by David Foenkinos)

I'm reading La Delicatesse par David Foenkinos.

A simple story. Containing miracles, in every little episode of the story.

The miracles are so delicate that they seem don't exist. Things happen as they're supposed to be. That it made me stop reading, spend time thinking whether the story could turn out like that.

While everyone is expecting a romantic love story (the Vietnamese version of the book is "Moi tinh Paris"), from an elegant Parisian gentleman, and a graceful lady, both are cream de la cream of Paris youth, the book leads me from a pink imagination of the cliche prince and princess's happy ever after fairy tale to an ultimate sense of loss and, well, a bit disappointment, when the plot move on to the story of the cold, successful woman and her clumsy subordinate...

Can somebody just HAPPENS to be there, when another needs to show some affection, and then their story start like that? No fascinating, accidental meet on the pavement of romantic Paris. No "Can I kiss away the pain in your eyes". He's just there, when she's in the urge of kissing someone. The kiss does not mean anything to her.

But it means the world to him. Let's see what he will do to make his "world" come true.

Well, I haven't finished the book yet :P And for now, I don't like the clumsy little Markus. But who knows what he might become, because:

"Il y a des gens formidables qu’on rencontre au mauvais moment.
Et il y a des gens qui sont formidables parce qu’on les rencontre au bon moment.”
